A special exhibition at the Shokoku-ji Jotenkaku Museum pairing the twin giants of Edo-period painting: Maruyama Okyo, founder of the Maruyama school, and Ito Jakuchu, the eccentric colorist of the famous Rooster paintings. The first phase runs through next February. A must-see for lovers of Japanese art — and the temple museum itself, set within the Shokoku-ji complex, is well worth the visit at only 1,000 yen admission.
