Higashi Honganji-mae Civic Green

The Higashi Honganji-mae Civic Green Space sits in front of Higashi Honganji Temple and is Kyoto City's first 'civic green space,' integrating a section of municipal roadway with greenery owned by the temple into one green area. Its centerpiece is a spacious plaza built around the existing fountain, fitted with lighting and benches and planted with seasonal flowering trees, serving as a place of rest and community interaction in front of the temple gate.
