Inaba-do Byodoji, commonly known as 'Inaba Yakushi,' is a temple with over a thousand years of history. Its principal image, a standing Yakushi Nyorai counted among the 'three great Nyorai of Japan' and designated an Important Cultural Property, is venerated as the Yakushi who 'seals away' cancer, and is also prayed to for safe childbirth and children. The temple belongs to the Kyoto Thirteen Buddhas, the Kyoto Twelve Yakushi, and the Rakuyo Thirty-three Kannon pilgrimage circuits, and a handmade-goods market is held on its grounds on the 8th of each month.
