Kamigamo Shrine, formally Kamo-wake-ikazuchi Jinja and affectionately known as the 'upper shrine' (Kamisya), enshrines Kamo-wake-ikazuchi-no-Okami. Its entire grounds, including two National Treasure buildings and 41 Important Cultural Properties, are inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The shrine is known for blessings such as warding off misfortune and evil directions and bringing good fortune, and it also protects the electrical industry.
