The national museum of modern art (opened 1963, "MoMAK"), in a building by architect Maki Fumihiko in Okazaki. Core collections of Japanese and Western painting, prints, sculpture, crafts, and photography, with collection and special exhibitions running in parallel. Note: admission rose in October 2026 with the nationwide national-museum price revision — confirm on the official site. Near Higashiyama subway station; often open late on Fridays.
