西本願寺

Nishi Hongwanji is the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha school of Buddhism, standing on Horikawa-dori in Shimogyo Ward. Many of its buildings have been designated National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties of Japan. The temple was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994.
