Seiryō-ji (Saga Shaka-dō) in Saga, Arashiyama, is regarded as the 'Saga no Midō' built by Hikaru Genji in The Tale of Genji; its principal image is a sandalwood Shaka Nyorai (National Treasure) said to preserve the Buddha's living likeness at the age of 37.
