The Kyoto Prefectural Garden of Fine Arts displays world-famous paintings transferred onto durable ceramic panels in a facility designed by Tadao Ando; its official site describes it as the world's first garden where paintings can be viewed outdoors. It exhibits eight ceramic-panel paintings, four of which—including 'The Last Judgment'—were shown at the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition, while the other four—including 'On the Terrace'—were newly made for the garden. The panels were donated to Kyoto Prefecture by Kayamori Shinji, president of Daikoku Denki, as part of a project conceived by Sakaiya Taichi.
