Umekoji Park

A large, free-entry park just west of Kyoto Station where locals jog, picnic, and bring their kids on weekends. It houses the Kyoto Railway Museum (53 retired trains, rideable steam locomotive) and the Kyoto Aquarium, plus the Suzaku-no-niwa Japanese garden. Reachable from JR Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station; about a 15–20 minute walk from Kyoto Station.
