The New National Theatre's "Opera Appreciation Class for High School Students 2026" brings Puccini's Madama Butterfly to Kyoto: 26 October (Mon) and 28 October (Wed), both 13:00, at ROHM Theatre Kyoto Main Hall. The 26th is a sold-out group performance; same-day tickets (no advance sales) for the 28th: ¥5,500 general, ¥4,200 for 29 and under, ¥2,750 for high school students, cash only.

The New National Theatre's opera appreciation class for high school students brings Puccini's Madama Butterfly to Kyoto in 2026. Two performances: Monday 26 October and Wednesday 28 October, both at 13:00, in ROHM Theatre Kyoto Main Hall. The appreciation class has toured the Kansai region since 2008 and moved to ROHM Theatre Kyoto in 2016. Madama Butterfly is its most-performed work: set in Nagasaki, it tells the tragic love of the devoted Cio-Cio-San for the American naval officer Pinkerton, in Puccini's dramatic, lyrical music with direction that vividly portrays the characters' inner lives.
