Demachiza is an independent cinema in the Demachiyanagi neighborhood whose official site is Japanese only. Japanese films screen without English subtitles, though foreign films carry Japanese subtitles, which English-speaking viewers can follow. With four or more screenings daily and frequent director Q&As and talk events, it is a hub for Kyoto's film community. Non-Japanese speakers should pick foreign titles.
