A personal training performance, or kai, by kabuki actor Ichikawa Danko at the Shunjuza Theatre. The program includes Shosatsuke Kongen Kusazuri, the dance classic Sagi Musume, and Uto — demanding pieces through which a young actor hones his craft before Kyoto's discerning audience. Watching a young actor's growth is part of the tradition's living appeal. The intimate Shunjuza brings audiences close to the actors' artistry.
