Japan's first full-scale theater run by a university, opened in 2001 on the Kyoto University of the Arts campus. The kabuki-style grand theater "Shunjuza" (up to 846 seats, with hanamichi, revolving stage, and orchestra pit) and the modern small theater "studio21" stage kabuki, opera, musicals, and contemporary dance. Prices vary; student discounts are common. Ten minutes on foot from Eizan "Chayama–Kyoto Geijutsu Daigaku" Station.
