Fudehajime-sai and Tenmagaki (New Year calligraphy before the deity)
筆始祭・天満書（神前書初め）
At Kitano Tenmangu, the Fudehajime-sai rite is held on January 2, and visitors can register at the Ema-sho from January 2 to 4 for Tenmagaki, writing the year's first calligraphy before the deity to pray for progress in calligraphy. The shrine's annual-events page does not list reception hours or fees.
