グループ展「whereabouts/ゆくえ」
Before you go
“whereabouts/ゆくえ” is a group show about the memory of places. Maki Ueda works with scent, Kuan-Ju Wu with media art, and Ayami Nagata is a contemporary artist. Each starts from their own material to answer the same question: in a space where people once lived and talked, where do those sensations remain after they have left? Curated by Yuki Ibata, with support from the Tobe Maki Foundation.
- Four days only: Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 November
- Getting there
- 69 Jodoji Higashidacho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto (606-8411). The announcement gives no nearest station or walking time, so please search for “Bridge Studio” on a map before you go.
- Good for
- People who like looking slowly, or are curious about scent and moving-image work, and anyone who wants contemporary art in Kyoto away from the tourist trail. It is a thoughtful exhibition rather than a lively event.
Bridge Studio is in Jodoji, Sakyo Ward, in what used to be the Okamoto clinic. Today it hosts residencies, studios, exhibitions and screenings, and is one of the few places in Kyoto aimed at architecture and urban practitioners. Talking about the memory of places in a house where people once came to wait and be seen makes the space part of the show.
